What is the National Black MBA Association? The National Black MBA Association or NBMBAA is one of the premier African-American professional organizations in the world. It serves the needs of professional people, mainly those of African-American decent and various African-American business communities in the United States. As an International organization we are helping meet the needs of African decedents in other parts of the world. As an association of professionals we address issues that impact you personally especially in the areas of managerial skill development, entrepreneurial development opportunities, increase networking opportunities, and ever changing career opportunities.
Who can join the NBMBAA? Almost anyone can join the NBMBAA organization. There are three classes of membership. Full membership consists of those members with advanced degrees (MBA, MA, MHA, Ph.D., LLD., MSW, etc.). Student membership consists of anyone actively pursuing an advanced management degree. Associate membership consists of anyone distinguished in business because of his or her management experience or entrepreneurship.
Is an MBA degree necessary to become a member of the NBMBAA organization? No. Membership is open to anyone regardless of race, sex, creed, or national origin. Those eligible for membership include individuals from the business community having experience in management or entrepreneurial endeavors. Student memberships are also available and are strongly encouraged.
When was the NBMBAA formed? The NBMBAA was formed as a professional organization in 1970 by a group of MBA candidates at the University of Chicago. The Organization was incorporated in the state of New York in 1974 as a non-profit organization.
How large is the NBMBAA? The NBMBAA is a worldwide organization. It has a membership of approximately 6,000 members located within 39 chapters across the United States and with one chapter in London, England as an affiliate.

When does the NBMBAA Charlotte Chapter meet? This chapter meets on the third Thursday of each month unless a holiday or important local event falls on that day. Contact us for more information on exact dates and times.
Where does the NBMBAA Charlotte Chapter meet? The general membership meetings for the Charlotte Chapter are currently held at the Public Library in Uptown Charlotte.
Do I have to be a member to attend a meeting? You do not have to be a member to participate in most events, although your membership is encouraged because it helps to make them possible. We welcome you to experience the benefits of membership.
How much are your dues for the national and local chapter? Dues are paid annually to the national office and include your membership in one local chapter as well as the national organization. Dues for 2005 will be $150.00 Your membership will begin immediately and last for 12 months from the time of enrollment.
How do I Join or transfer my membership to the Charlotte Chapter? Fill out the membership application and pay for your first year's dues, it's just that simple. If you are already a member of another chapter, just fill out the application form, and than contact the National Office informing them that you want to transfer your membership from your present chapter to the Charlotte chapter.
How do I find out about employment opportunities? This chapter keeps an updated listing of job openings available to our membership. In addition all members can access the national website for more listings.
How do I find out about scholarships, activities, and programs offered by this chapter? The best way is by attending a general membership meeting.
